The Access to Information Act gives Canadian citizens and permanent residents within the meaning of subsection 2(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act the right to access information in federal government records.
The Privacy Act provides Canadian citizens and permanent residents within the meaning of subsection 2(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act the right to access any personal information about themselves contained in a personal information bank and any other personal information about themselves under the control of a government institution.
