Ottawa, CANADA – The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) is proud to announce the successful delivery of 22 Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV) to the Chilean Navy, which CCC helped acquire from New Zealand through a $31 million government to government (G2G) contract.
Originally manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada through a contract with the New Zealand Government, the LAVs were surplus inventory of New Zealand’s military.
The LAVs, to be operated by the Chilean Navy’s Marine Corps, will contribute to the country’s coastal and territorial defence, and support humanitarian efforts during natural disasters like earthquakes and flooding.
CCC’s government-to-government (G2G) contract with the Chilean Navy builds on the bilateral defence collaboration between Canada and Chile, which has grown in scope and intensity in recent years, particularly since the signature of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on defence cooperation in April 2012. Chile became a member of Canada’s Military Training and Cooperation Program in June 1998, with approximately 393 Chilean students having received training to date.
