Ottawa, CANADA – CCC is pleased to announce that it was awarded a contract by the United States Department of Defense (U.S. DoD) to supply the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) a Z-Drive Boom Boat manufactured by Canadian Maritime Engineering (CME).
Headquartered in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, CME specializes in marine custom engineering and manufacturing for a variety of sectors including oil and gas, mining, power generation, public safety and national defense. Canadian Maritime Engineering has provided vessels and associated services to the Canadian Armed Forces, the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Coast Guard, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), NATO, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
Measuring 18 feet, the boat comes with an 8 foot beam and a 360-degree steerable z-drive that’s capable of producing 230 horsepower. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will use CME’s boom boat to support navigation activities at the Lower Granite Lock and Dam, one of more than 650 dams across the United States.
CCC is the designated contracting authority for purchases by the U.S. DoD from Canada worth USD $250,000 or more. Through its U.S. DoD Prime Contractor service, CCC partners with Canadian businesses like CME to supply the U.S. DoD with made in Canada solutions. In 2022-2023, CCC signed new U.S. DoD contracts worth $885 million that supported approximately 5,700 Canadian jobs.
