CCC, Jordan to cooperate on energy efficiency

February 22, 2024

Ottawa, CANADA – CCC is pleased to announce it has signed a Letter of Intent with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as represented by Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) to explore the development and implementation of a Super Energy Service Company (Super ESCO), which will help the country produce energy efficiencies and reduce its carbon emissions.

Energy efficiency is crucial to Jordan’s vision of becoming the recognized regional leader in sustainable energy implementation. By enhancing its energy efficiency, Jordan can improve its energy security while also mitigating the environmental impact of energy consumption.

MEMR has set a target to improve energy efficiency by 9% across various sectors by 2030, the Super ESCO model aligns with this goal. Super ESCOs focus on comprehensive energy management and infrastructure upgrades through energy audits, project financing, project management, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of older infrastructure.

CCC will look to establish a Super ESCO that will bring together Jordan’s ESCOs to manage a large portfolio of public energy efficiency projects, realize economies of scale and increase the energy efficiency of public institutions – which will help the country reduce its carbon emissions. CCC will be working with Econoler, a pioneer in the field, to deliver the Canadian solution. JREEEF will facilitate the development of the Super ESCO on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

In 2009, Jordan became the first country in the Middle East to sign a Free Trade Agreement with Canada. A companion Agreement on the Environment established a framework for undertaking bilateral environmental efforts, including Super ESCO projects. CCC’s work in Jordan builds on these agreements.

CCC operates at the crossroads of commerce and international relations to forge commercial contracts between Canadian businesses and foreign governments. CCC’s International Prime Contract service enables Canadian businesses to partner with the Government of Canada to pursue and win more government contracts abroad.
