CCC, Argentina sign MOU for Canadian forest fighting equipment

September 9, 2022

Ottawa, Canada – The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina (MAyDS) to acquire or rent forest fighting equipment, goods, supplies, tools and training from Canada. MAyDS is the government agency responsible for the monitoring, prevention, and management of the Argentina’s fire emergencies.

The Argentine government has taken this action to incorporate equipment from Canada within the framework of the National Fire Management Service. This will allow Argentina to have high-performance air resources and other equipment and services to meet the period of greatest demand to deal with fires.

“This agreement with CCC will enable Argentina’s MAyDS to quickly mobilize qualified aerial firefighting resources when the need arises,” said Kim Douglas, VP of Business Development and Marketing at CCC.

Under the terms of the MOU, forest fighting acquisitions can be made by Argentina through CCC as the Government of Canada. CCC’s government to government (G2G) contracts has the legal effect of being signed in the name of the Government of Canada who is ultimately responsible for CCC’s contractual obligations.
