Women in Governance awards CCC parity certification

September 20, 2022

The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) has been awarded a Bronze Level Parity CertificationTM by Women in Governance, in recognition of our commitment to gender equity, diversity, and inclusion.

CCC received the Bronze Level certification as an outcome of a thorough assessment from WiG. This certification underscores CCC’s commitment to implement sustainable policies and practices, and to enable a fair environment for equal representation at all levels. As part of the certification, CCC received a customized report with recommendations to sustain the Bronze Level and a roadmap to adopt practices to continue to improve parity in our workplace.

CCC’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee have developed a management action plan, endorsed by our Senior Management team, to address recommendations in the report. CCC is committed to establishing equal opportunities in employment and has the goal of achieving and maintaining a representative workforce. To that end, the Corporation seeks to identify and remove any barriers in employment including its recruitment, hiring, training, and promotion practices.

We are also committed to building an inclusive environment that enables and encourages all employees, regardless of sex, race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, or disability, to recognize the value of their inherent similarities and differences and respect the related beliefs and behaviours of others, resulting in safe and engaging workplace.

QUOTE

“CCC, as a federally regulated employer, needs to lead in terms of women in leadership positions. We’ve taken many positive steps over the last few years, at the Board and the Senior Management levels, but we have more to do to see women leaders at all levels within CCC. We’re committed to implementing the best practices identified through this process to strengthen our position as an employer of choice within the public sector.” – Bobby Kwon, President and CEO of the Canadian Commercial Corporations

QUICK FACTS

  • Women in Governance (WiG) is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 to support women in their leadership development, career advancement and access to Board seats. The organization pursues its mission with its Parity CertificationTM, inspiring events, as well as governance training and mentoring programs.
  • WiG’s Parity CertificationTM — the first of its kind in North America, was built in 2017 with the pro bono support of McKinsey & Company. It helps organizations increase the representation of women in sectors where they have historically been underrepresented, as well as in senior management positions. Evaluation partners Accenture, Mercer, and Willis Towers Watson support the WiG team in the assessment of applications. Its robust questionnaire evaluates parity at every level of an organization and particular attention is paid to intersectionality, to create a diversified and inclusive pipeline of female talent. More than 700,000 employees across Canada work for an organization that has been Parity certified.
