Today, the Government of Honduras approved a Government to Government contract with the Government of Canada, through the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), for the production and delivery of identification cards for Honduran nationals living in the United States.

The contract is expected to supply between 40,000 to 60,000 Hondurans with ID cards per year. These identification cards are expected to significantly improve the quality of life for Honduran nationals living in the United States.

Proper identification will allow these Honduran citizens to obtain driver’s licenses, and help them resolve employment issues they may encounter. Additionally, the ID cards will help the Government of Honduras to more accurately monitor and support Honduran nationals residing in the United States.

The Cards and Secure Issuance System will be produced by Canadian Bank Note Company Limited, an Ottawa based company.

“I am extremely excited to announce today that Canadian industry will be making a positive impact in the lives of Hondurans living in the United States. This is an excellent example of how Canadian ingenuity can be leveraged to assist vulnerable peoples internationally.”

Hon. Chrystia Freeland, P.C., M.P., Minister of International Trade

“The Canadian Commercial Corporation is proud to be able to work with Canadian Bank Note Ltd. and the Government of Honduras to improve the lives of Hondurans living in the U.S. This contract will increase bilateral commercial ties between Canada and Honduras, opening the door for more Canadian companies in future.”

Martin Zablocki, President and CEO, Canadian Commercial Corporation

“Working with CCC allows us to quickly deliver a solution to the Government of Honduras to help improve the lives of its citizens living in the U.S. As a Canadian exporter, CCC provides great value in helping us increase our competitiveness internationally.”
