The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) is pleased to welcome Mr. Julian Ovens as the newest member of its Board of Directors. The appointment was made by the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, and Minister responsible for CCC.
Mr. Ovens is a Senior Advisor with Crestview Strategy, based in Ottawa. He has extensive experience as an international corporate development leader, a natural resources executive, and a senior government advisor. Prior to joining Crestview Strategy, Mr. Ovens was chief of staff to two of Canada’s former international trade ministers, François-Philippe Champagne and Jim Carr, as well as a former minister of foreign affairs, Stéphane Dion. He previously worked at BHP Billiton, the world’s largest natural resources company, as Head of Strategy and Development, Potash (formerly Diamonds) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Project Director, Iron Ore Africa, Minerals Exploration, based in Singapore.
The appointment of Mr. Ovens to CCC’s Board is the result of an open, transparent and merit-based selection process developed to attract high-quality candidates while reflecting gender parity and Canada’s diversity. As board member, he will serve a term of up to four years to help supervise the direction and management of CCC, oversee their strategic development, and identify opportunities for the organizations to serve Canadian businesses better.
